CAM Survey Says Most US Jews Faced Antisemitism This Year
The Combat Antisemitism Movement released a July 2 survey saying 57% of U.S. Jews experienced antisemitism in the past year, equal to about 3.3 million Jewish adults, with roughly 250,000 children living in affected households. CAM says Dr. Ira Sheskin of the University of Miami conducted the 1,060-adult study, administered by NORC at the University of Chicago. The survey found 38% now hide Jewish identifiers, 32% avoid online Jewish identification and 23% skipped Jewish events or observances out of fear. Jewish communities should answer the data with stronger synagogue and school security, public Jewish confidence, Israel literacy and practical solidarity across religious and secular lines.
