Residents Report Nearly 600 Olive Trees Uprooted in Zawtar al-Sharqiya

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of a split aerial view showing a broad cleared red-earth parcel beside intact olive groves and farmland.

Residents of Zawtar al-Sharqiya in southern Lebanon said nearly 600 mature olive trees belonging to several local families were uprooted after recent Israeli ground operations in the area. They said heavy machinery was used and described the loss as both agricultural and financial, because olive growing supports local households. Photographs published with the account show cleared and disturbed ground. The reports did not identify when the clearing occurred, specify the precise parcels affected, or include a response from Israeli authorities.
