AI Traffic Signals Save 25 Seconds per Car Across Israeli Test Sites

Netivei Israel says a sample of 25 intersections equipped with adaptive AI traffic signals saved about 25 seconds per vehicle on average during the day. The system is already deployed at roughly 170 signals, using cameras and algorithms to measure queues and adjust timing in real time. At Fureidis Junction, daily savings reached an estimated 771 vehicle-hours, while the Kiryat Tivon entrance saved about 56 seconds per vehicle. The agency estimates deployment at 100 intersections could benefit the economy by more than NIS 500 million annually, and aims to make all 750 signals under its responsibility adaptive within five years.
