Court Permits Publication of Lawyer Alon Kriti’s Name in Extortion Case

A court accepted prosecutors’ position Friday and allowed publication that lawyer Alon Kriti is the defendant in an extortion-by-threats case. The Central District Prosecutor’s Office alleges Kriti lent a complainant about NIS 50,000 in 2025, of which roughly NIS 30,000 was repaid, while a relative lent another NIS 20,000 that remained unpaid. Prosecutors say Kriti sent threatening WhatsApp messages and arranged for two people to visit the complainant’s home while his nine-year-old son was present. Kriti was arrested after a police complaint, and prosecutors requested detention through the end of proceedings; the allegations have not resulted in a conviction.
