Yehuda Katz to Be Buried Friday on Mount of Olives, 44 Years After Sultan Yacoub

The funeral of Staff Sgt. Yehuda Yekutiel Katz, whose remains were returned to Israel this week, will be held Friday. The procession will depart from Kerem B'Yavneh Yeshiva and proceed to the military section of the cemetery on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. Katz fell at Sultan Yacoub in Lebanon's Beqaa Valley on June 11, 1982, and had been classified missing for 44 years. His remains were located in an operation led by Military Intelligence with the Mossad and identified by the Military Rabbinate. The burial completes the recovery of all three soldiers missing from the battle, after Zachary Baumel in 2019 and Zvi Feldman in 2025.
