Medical Board Refers Simon Gordon to Tribunal Over Misconduct Allegations

The Medical Board of Australia referred former Melbourne gynaecologist Simon Gordon to VCAT, alleging professional misconduct after a review of thousands of patient records by independent medical experts. Allegations include repeatedly removing tissue and organs for diagnosed severe endometriosis when pathology showed little evidence of disease. Gordon retired in late 2025 and left the practitioner register; he says he acted ethically and operated only when convinced it served patients' interests. The tribunal can dismiss the case or, if misconduct is established, permanently bar him from registration and healthcare work. A law firm says it represents 295 of more than 500 former patients who contacted it.
