Huckabee Visits Turmus Ayya, Calls for Severe Consequences Over West Bank Violence

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Mike Huckabee speaking with Palestinian women and local officials outside a stone building, drawn in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel with cross-hatching on sepia newsprint.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee visited Turmus Ayya in the West Bank and met Palestinian-Americans who described attacks by Israeli settlers. An AFP photograph caption said he visited the home of an American-Palestinian resident who had previously been attacked twice and reported continuing harassment. Huckabee told reporters that “crime is crime, terror is terror” and said perpetrators should expect “severe consequences.” The ambassador, who declined to criticize Israel, made the remarks in a town with a large U.S.-citizen population.
