Haifa Starts Next Phase of High-Voltage Line Burial

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of utility crews working beside a Haifa street to bury a high-voltage electrical line, with hillside buildings beyond, drawn in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel with cross-hatching on sepia newsprint.

Haifa and Israel Electric started the next stage of a project to bury an overhead high-voltage line and replace aging electrical infrastructure. The work adds another electrical ring intended to improve supply reliability and the city's continuity in routine conditions and emergencies. Operation Yonatan Street became one-way, bus stops toward Palmach Square were canceled and free shuttles are being provided during part of the day while the staged work continues.
