Netanya Mother Stages City Hall Sit-In Over Son's School Placement

A Netanya mother began a sit-in with her six-year-old son at City Hall on Monday after he remained without a school placement she considers suitable. The boy, who is autistic and needs moderate support, was due to begin first grade. His mother said her request for HaShahar school was denied and that she rejected a placement outside the city at Beit Ekstein in Tel Yitzhak. Netanya Municipality said it had offered Morasha and HaShahar before proposing an individualized program at Beit Ekstein with enhanced safeguards. The city said special-education officials remain in contact with the family and are continuing to seek a placement.
