Transport Ministry Launches Preapproved Roadwork Plans for 254 Local Authorities

The Transport Ministry has launched a national guide of preapproved traffic diagrams for routine municipal roadwork, covering about 300 municipal-space bodies, including all 254 local authorities. Developed with Israel Police, Ayalon Highways and local-government representatives, the templates cover lanes, sidewalks, bicycle paths, public-transport lanes, junctions, roundabouts, temporary closures and mass-transit corridors. Officials estimate annual savings of hundreds of millions of shekels by reducing repeated engineering work and approvals. Local traffic authorities may use selected diagrams for urgent maintenance, but every job still requires a formal local permit and compliance with police safety and security requirements.
