IDF Chief Says Hezbollah Must Be Removed South of Litani

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said during a visit to the Northern Command's 91st Division that Israel is determined to remove Hezbollah's presence south of the Litani River and prevent the group from rebuilding. He said a diplomatic arrangement with Lebanon could not advance that objective unless the Lebanese Armed Forces significantly improved its performance on the ground. Zamir approved the division's defensive principles, ordered troops to maintain high readiness and reviewed robotic systems presented by field-intelligence, Yahalom and reserve units. He also said the IDF plans to inaugurate a Robotics Branch in the coming months.
