UNIFIL announced an investigation after several rounds of small-arms fire struck its position near Kfar Shouba, along the Blue Line in southern Lebanon, on Wednesday morning. The mission said peacekeepers took shelter after the first round of firing and none was injured. Most rounds hit the perimeter wall, while others struck accommodation units and United Nations vehicles inside the base. Its statement did not identify who fired. UNIFIL said continued firing toward its clearly marked position endangered peacekeepers and reminded all actors of their obligations to protect United Nations personnel.
