Israel Releases Malek Ghazi to Lebanon in First Handover Since War

Israel released Lebanese detainee Malek Ghazi on Thursday and transferred him through the International Committee of the Red Cross to the Lebanese Army at the Naqoura crossing. It was the first such handover since the latest Israel-Hezbollah war began six months ago. Lebanese officials said another prisoner was expected to be released, while the circumstances of Ghazi’s capture remain unclear and one official described him as a civilian. The handover came as Israel and Lebanon prepare for another round of talks in Rome after limited progress implementing the framework agreement they signed in June.
