Iran ordered a Swedish diplomat in Tehran to leave within 48 hours after Sweden expelled an Iranian embassy official. Iran’s Foreign Ministry said Sweden’s ambassador was summoned Thursday morning and told of the reciprocal measure, while rejecting Stockholm’s allegation as baseless. Sweden’s government said on Wednesday that it had summoned Iran’s ambassador and required an Iranian official to leave over activity it called incompatible with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. Iran said the reasons for its departure order were explained to the ambassador. Neither country named the diplomat being expelled.
