U.S. Lets Ethiopia Emergency Expire and Delists Eritrean Military and Ruling Party

Executive Order 14046, issued in 2021 over the crisis in northern Ethiopia, expired. The U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control then removed sanctions imposed under that authority and retired the program's related guidance. The delistings cover Eritrea's People’s Front for Democracy and Justice, Eritrean Defense Forces, Red Sea Trading Corporation and Hidri Trust, as well as Hagos Ghebrehiwet W Kidan and Abraha Kassa Nemariam. Treasury originally designated the four entities and two officials in November 2021 over their alleged roles in the humanitarian, human-rights and military crisis.
