South Korea Reaffirms Hormuz Support in Cho-Rubio Talks

South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun told U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Seoul was willing to make a substantive contribution toward restoring free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The ministers met in Washington on September 18 and discussed bilateral relations, the Korean Peninsula, and regional and global affairs. Rubio outlined U.S. efforts concerning Iran and broader Middle East stability, according to South Korea's Foreign Ministry. The ministry said both sides agreed to maintain close communication, but announced no assets, timetable, deployment or operational commitment.
