IRGC Claims U.S. Warships Were Damaged; CENTCOM Says They Evaded Attack

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it fired several ballistic missiles at a U.S. aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer in regional waters, claiming both vessels were damaged and withdrew. The IRGC said the ships had harassed Iranian shipping and taken part in a maritime blockade. U.S. Central Command confirmed the missile attacks but said the carrier and destroyer successfully evaded them and that no American personnel were harmed. Neither side identified the ships, and the competing accounts leave the central question of damage unresolved.
