Iran Links Gulf Exclusion Threat to U.S. Economic Pressure

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei linked U.S. economic pressure to a threat to impose a maritime exclusion zone across the Persian Gulf. In a post early Tuesday, he said economic warfare would be met by a zone extending to what he called the blockade perimeter. Rezaei claimed Washington had received a warning from Iran’s new missiles and said Tehran had fundamentally changed its operational posture toward U.S. warships and bases. His statement tied prospective restrictions on Gulf navigation directly to continued American economic pressure.
