U.S. forces destroyed two small boats after Iranian Revolutionary Guard personnel tried to seize an American unmanned surface vessel patrolling near the Strait of Hormuz, according to U.S. officials. CENTCOM spokesman Capt. Tim Hawkins confirmed the attempted takeover and said the drone remained under U.S. operational control after American forces responded. A U.S. official said another American drone fired two missiles, destroying both boats and killing most of those aboard. Iran offered a conflicting account, with Hormozgan deputy governor Ahmad Nafisi describing the vessels as fishing boats hit near Larak Island and Bandar Kargan and saying an unspecified number of occupants were missing.
