CENTCOM Says U.S. Cleared Iranian Mines From Strait of Hormuz Lanes

U.S. Central Command chief Adm. Brad Cooper said U.S. forces cleared sea mines laid by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from internationally recognized transit routes in the Strait of Hormuz. He said Navy divers and SEALs worked with air assets from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps in the operation. Cooper said nearly 1,500 commercial vessels carrying almost 750 million barrels of crude oil have transited under U.S. protection, while more than 20 warships and hundreds of aircraft supported the effort. He said international shipping lanes are open and momentum is building, while Iran has exported no oil since the blockade resumed in mid-July.
