Israel Raises Rosh Hashanah Alert Over Possible Iranian Strike

Israeli security officials decided to raise readiness for Rosh Hashanah after discussions explicitly considered the possibility of an Iranian-initiated strike. A senior U.S. official assessed that economic and maritime pressure is seriously damaging Iran's regime economy and could drive Tehran toward major military action by the November midterm elections, including action involving Israel. The official said Iran is considering a significant escalation and would not limit its options to Gulf states. The report did not describe any change to public Home Front Command instructions.
