Australia Extends Reduced Fuel-Reserve Rule Through January 2027

The Australian government has extended a temporary 20% reduction in petrol and diesel Minimum Stockholding Obligations until 31 January 2027. Suppliers using the concession must commit to delivering more fuel into the market and prioritize regional supply. The government said the extension supports grain-harvest and summer-holiday demand while Australia remains at Level 2 of the National Fuel Security Plan. Energy Minister Chris Bowen said 41 fuel ships had arrived in Australia during September, and cited parallel investments in domestic reserves, refining and cleaner fuels.
