Jewish Groups Rally Across From UN, Urge Leaders to Act on Antisemitism

Some of New York's largest Jewish organizations, including UJA-Federation of New York and JCRC-NY, rallied against antisemitism on Wednesday across from United Nations headquarters as world leaders gathered for the General Assembly. Organizers said their message to world leaders was: "Words matter, actions matter even more." Hindy Poupko, executive vice president of UJA-Federation of New York, said the groups want world leaders to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism and national action plans, and to bolster Jewish security. She said U.S. Jewish institutions have spent about $1 billion on physical security. The ADL cited its Global 100 survey, which found antisemitic attitudes rising from about 25% to 46% since 2014.
