Samaria Head Dagan Demands Plan for PA Forces Turning Guns on Israel After Qalqilya Tunnel

Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan on September 24 wrote to the defense minister, the IDF chief of staff and the chair of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, demanding a plan for a scenario in which Palestinian Authority security forces turn their weapons against Israel. He cited the tunnel at least 25 meters deep exposed in Qalqilya, next to Kfar Saba, where police found an M16, a sniper rifle, ammunition and fertilizer used to make explosive charges. He asked that the plan examine the forces' numbers, training, weapons, intelligence, infrastructure and proximity to Israeli communities and IDF bases. "The lesson of October 7 is that you don't wait for the threat to mature," he said.
