Yosef Haim Ben David, Convicted of Murdering Mohammed Abu Khdeir, Dies at 42

Yosef Haim Ben David, 42, of Jerusalem, died on Thursday after being taken from Sharon Prison to a hospital, where his death was declared. The Israel Prison Service said a review team had been appointed; no cause of death was reported. In July 2014, days after the abduction and murder of Israeli teenagers Naftali Fraenkel, Gil-Ad Shaer and Eyal Yifrah, Ben David and two minor relatives kidnapped 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khdeir of Shuafat and burned him alive in the Jerusalem Forest. The Jerusalem District Court convicted him in 2016, rejecting his insanity claim, and sentenced him to life plus 20 years; the Supreme Court upheld the ruling in 2018.
