Petition Withdrawn at High Court, Unfreezing Funds for Education and National Service

Hiddush and Democrats MK Naama Lazimi withdrew their High Court petition against coalition-fund transfers that the Knesset Finance Committee approved on August 4, 2026, during the election recess, after the justices recommended withdrawal at a September 24 hearing. The withdrawal lifts the court's freeze on the money. The transfers include NIS 286 million for education, mainly Haredi education and kindergarten teachers' salaries, plus funds for National Service and northern communities. Degel HaTorah chair Moshe Gafni welcomed the release and called the petition vexatious and unnecessary. The Religious Education Forum said about NIS 30 million for state-religious education will now be transferred.
