High Court Approves NIS 30 Million Transfer for Holy Sites

The High Court approved a NIS 30 million transfer for holy sites and exempted religious-court and religious-services budgets from a freeze on transfers approved by the Knesset Finance Committee. The decision permits holy sites to operate ahead of Elul and the Tishrei holidays. Religious Services Ministry director-general Yehuda Avidan said the ruling prevented harm to worshippers, while Chief Rabbi David Yosef thanked ministry and rabbinical-court officials for maintaining services. Justice Alex Stein imposed the freeze earlier in August amid a petition alleging procedural defects in the committee hearing.
