Milwidsky Refuses New Vote After Counsel Challenges Budget Transfers

Finance Committee chair Hanoch Milwidsky rejected legal adviser Shlomit Erlich’s claim that overnight budget-transfer votes violated committee procedures and were invalid. Erlich said the requests were circulated without the required review and supporting material, limiting lawmakers’ ability to examine them before the votes. Milwidsky said the end of the Knesset session justified departing from the usual timetable, argued that the hearings were lawful and lasted more than two and a half hours, and refused to hold another vote. The disputed requests included local-authority surpluses and coalition funding through the Prime Minister’s Office.
