The Budget-Transfer Freeze
Where it stands
Citing apparent procedural flaws, High Court Justice Alex Stein temporarily froze nearly all budget transfers that the Knesset Finance Committee approved on August 4, including money for Haredi institutions and the Settlements Ministry. The court later released funds for holy sites and religious services. On September 24, Hiddush and Democrats MK Naama Lazimi withdrew their petition at the justices' recommendation, lifting the freeze on transfers including NIS 286 million for education.
