Karhi's Communications Law
Where it stands
The Knesset passed Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi's broadcasting reform on July 16, creating a new broadcast regulator and redirecting NIS 50 million from the public broadcaster. Petitions followed, and the High Court issued a temporary order delaying provisions set to take effect on publication. On September 24 the court ordered Karhi to appoint four public broadcaster council members within a week, and Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara asked it to freeze the law.
