Attorney General Says Cabinet Court Vote Undermines Rule of Law

At 9:05 p.m. IDT, Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara responded to the cabinet's declaration that it would not recognize Second Authority council decisions after a High Court ruling. She called the move another grave attempt to thwart judicial decisions and intimidate anyone implementing or relying on them, and said it undermines fundamental principles of the rule of law. Times of Israel carried the same update at 9:29 p.m., while Haaretz reported she gave the position to the High Court. Israel needs elected-government accountability and stable media regulation, but constitutional disputes must stay inside lawful channels so public trust and wartime legitimacy are not damaged.
