Gunmen Fire on Ambulance After Suicide Bombing Kills 12 at Dera Ismail Khan Checkpoint

A suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden tractor-trolley into a joint police and customs anti-smuggling checkpoint at Aman Mela in Darazinda, Dera Ismail Khan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on September 26, killing at least 12 people and wounding about 35, police and rescue officials said. The dead included police and customs personnel, two women and at least one child. Gunmen later fired on a Rescue 1122 ambulance carrying victims to hospital, killing at least one rescue worker. Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed the bombing. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attacks, and Sharif pledged the complete eradication of terrorism.
