Magnitude 5.9 Earthquake Strikes East of Taiwan, with Maximum Intensity 2

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration recorded a magnitude 5.9 earthquake offshore east of Taiwan at 13:00:24 local time on September 30. The epicenter was 136.0 kilometers east of the Hualien County government building, at a depth of 13.3 kilometers. The highest recorded shaking intensity was 2 in Yilan, Hualien, Yunlin, Chiayi and Changhua counties, while Taipei recorded intensity 1. The bulletin placed the epicenter at 23.75 degrees north and 122.93 degrees east and listed measured shaking in 18 counties and cities.
