The IDF and Shin Bet disclosed Friday that Hamas northern Gaza brigade commander Izz al-Din Bik supervised the captivity of Israeli hostages, including Mia Schem, Hisham al-Sayed, Ron Sherman and Nik Beizer. The agencies said the findings followed a prolonged intelligence investigation. They also said Bik commanded and personally participated in the October 7 incursion into Israel and helped establish the Nukhba force in northern Gaza. Bik, who previously led the western Jabaliya battalion and the brigade's military intelligence, was killed Tuesday.
