Defense Ministry Says Fighter Benefit Cards Cannot Be Used at Kaveret Stores

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of archival supermarket dairy shelves in Israel, shown as general retail context; not a Kaveret store or a Fighter benefit-card transaction

The Defense Ministry says reservists cannot use Fighter benefit cards at Kaveret stores because the outlets are classified as supermarkets. The explanation follows a report of a sign rejecting the cards at a Kaveret store on a reserve base in northern Israel. The ministry said the funded digital vouchers are intended for recreation, leisure and welfare benefits rather than supermarket food purchases. Kaveret said the ministry's approved spending categories include restaurants and attractions but do not cover its stores, whose assortment includes food, toiletries, personal equipment and electronics.
