Phantom GI Raises $5 Million to Develop Minimally Invasive Ostomy Device
Published

Israeli medical-device startup Phantom GI announced a $5 million seed round led by Pitango HealthTech, with RAD Biomed and RUNI Ventures participating. The funding is intended to advance its PercStoma device toward clinical trials in the United States. The company says the device is designed to create an ostomy through a single needle access through the skin, using X-ray guidance and local anesthesia, with a drainage stent connected to a standard ostomy bag. Its initial target is patients with malignant bowel obstruction whose condition makes conventional invasive surgery unsuitable.
