Police reopened Highway 4 in both directions near Bnei Brak on October 8 after dispersing a demonstration that had blocked the road, the force said. Hundreds of demonstrators had blocked the highway and confronted officers, according to the police statement. An officer declared the demonstration unlawful, but participants did not comply with police instructions and continued blocking the road with their bodies, police said. Officers arrested three suspects on suspicion of assaulting police officers; the statement, issued at 6:40 p.m., said the demonstration had been dispersed shortly beforehand.
