Maccabi Tel Aviv Owners Reportedly Move Toward Arbitration, Forgoing Mediation

Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball club shareholders reportedly appear set to forgo mediation and proceed directly to arbitration, with a first arbitration meeting scheduled for next week. Attorney Dr. Israel (Rely) Leshem is the agreed arbitrator in the ownership dispute. Last week, following Judge Zimmerman’s recommendation, the parties accepted an attempt at mediation before arbitration, selecting attorney Moran Meiri as mediator and allocating roughly two weeks to the process. The court’s earlier decision gave Leshem broad powers to resolve shareholder disputes, determine share rights and issue interim decisions.
