Rwanda's F1 Circuit Designers Detail Six-Kilometre, 17-Corner Layout

Designers Alex Wurz and Carsten Tilke have outlined a planned 6km, anti-clockwise Formula 1 circuit with 17 corners in Bugesera, Rwanda. Formula 1's detailed account says the venue would feature 197 metres of elevation change, banking and cambered turns across two hills and a lake near Kigali's new international airport. The full final layout has not been released, and the designers say overtaking opportunities and varied race strategies are priorities. A previously announced 10-year agreement envisages the first race early next decade, after the purpose-built circuit is completed.
