Peru Reports Seven New Wildfires Across Five Regions

Peru's National Civil Defense Institute reported seven new wildfires across Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Cusco, Pasco and San Martín in an October 13 evening update. Municipal teams and residents extinguished the San Miguel fire and controlled the Puyusca blaze, while fires in Pampas and Caja remained active. Authorities reported vegetation damage but no harm to life or health in those two Huancavelica districts, and Yanahuanca's fire had burned 10 hectares of natural cover. Police, municipal workers and residents responded in Santo Tomás, while Shampuyacu Indigenous-community brigades fought the fire in Awajun.
