Lebanon Annex Ties IDF Redeployment to Hezbollah Disarmament
Overnight reports published the security annex to the US-brokered Israel-Lebanon framework, showing any IDF redeployment from southern Lebanon would be phased and tied to verified Hezbollah and other non-state disarmament. The annex creates a Military Coordination Group for Lebanon, with US, Israeli, Lebanese and partner participation, to approve pilot zones where the Lebanese army would assume control only after conditions are met. It also preserves Israel's inherent right of self-defense if threats reappear. For Jerusalem, the document turns diplomacy into enforceable security sequencing: no withdrawal can become a gift to Hezbollah's Iranian-backed arsenal.
