Enter, then, among My servants, and enter My Paradise.} To my brother, General Nasser Mansour Hadi; to the children and family of the great son of the nation who has passed away, Field Marshal Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, former President of the Republic, Jalal, Nasser and Yasser; to all members of the armed forces and security forces; and to all our Yemeni people at home and abroad. With hearts believing in God's decree and destiny, and with profound grief and sorrow, I mourn before our proud Yemeni people my brother and companion on the path and in arms, His Excellency the former President of the Republic, Field Marshal Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, who has gone to be with his Lord after a struggle filled with service and sacrifice through exceptional historical turning points in Yemen's modern history. With his passing, the nation has today lost a courageous fighter from the first generation who confronted the hated colonialism, and a symbol of the glorious 14 October Revolution whose sacrifices wrote the dawn of freedom and independence. As I stand today in this sorrowful moment and bid farewell to my companion, I recall across the pages of my life a full 40-year journey of comradeship and friendship since our first meeting, after we welcomed him in the city of Al Bayda in January 1986. He had come from Aden, which was facing the unfortunate events of January, and at that time served as deputy chief of the General Staff in the southern part of the country. We knew him as a patriotic man and a republican leader committed to unity, distinguished by his academic training, high military competence and extensive experience acquired throughout his career. That relationship grew stronger in the years that followed in the fields of national and military service, where we shared responsibilities, difficult circumstances and decisive turning points experienced by the nation. It remained founded on cooperation, consultation and concern for protecting the republic and Yemen's unity. Like any human relationship, it also included agreement at times and differences at others, as shaped by personal views, judgments, the nature of events and the complexities of the political phase. In the summer of 1994, his major national and historic role emerged when he assumed command of the Abyan axis and then became minister of defense. He was the leader of the battle to defend the unity and safeguard it with courage and ability, placing the nation's higher interest above every consideration. The late man, may God have mercy on him, and I shared complex stages of struggle, military service and politics. Together we worked to establish the foundations of the state and secure its safety and stability. The Field Marshal progressed through various offices and responsibilities, from his appointment as vice president to winning the people's confidence when he was elected president of the republic in February 2012 through a unique democratic and historic consensus and agreement. During that period he sponsored the outcomes of the National Dialogue and the vision of a federal Yemen composed of six regions, and continued to steer the ship under the harshest conditions until the announcement in April 2022 of the transfer of power to the Presidential Leadership Council. Although that journey included differing judgments and visions concerning the management of critical issues connected to the Houthi clerical coup and the consequences that followed, history will preserve Field Marshal Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi's brave and steadfast stance in rejecting dictates and refusing to submit to the Houthi coup in the capital. He resisted the pressure and chose to submit his resignation to the House of Representatives as a sound constitutional option that would transfer power to the people's representatives. This step placed responsibility for taking over power, and for the national and constitutional position in confronting the coup, on the political forces, foremost among them the General People's Congress, which held the parliamentary majority. When the roads were blocked, he undertook the historic venture of escaping and moving to beloved Aden. From there he delivered his important and courageous speeches and decisions calling for the restoration of legitimacy, and made the courageous and wise decision to call upon the brothers in the coalition supporting legitimacy, led by our faithful brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its wise leadership, who stood, and continue to stand, with strength and resolve beside the Yemeni people. The passing of Field Marshal Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi is a national loss and the passing of one of the statesmen whose names were tied to pivotal moments in Yemen's modern history, marked by immense challenges and major transformations that will remain subjects of study and fair judgment in the nation's memory. As we bid farewell today to this eminent figure, we affirm that our consolation is shared, and that loyalty to that journey requires all of us to continue the struggle, complete the battle to restore the state and legitimacy, and end the coup supported by Iran. My sincere condolences and sympathy go to ourselves, to the brother and children of the deceased and his honored family, and to the Yemeni people as a whole. We ask Almighty God to envelop him in His vast mercy and forgiveness, grant him a place in His spacious Paradise, and inspire his family, relatives and loved ones with patience and solace. Indeed, we belong to God, and indeed to Him we return.
