Hakan Fidan is Turkey's Foreign Minister and former intelligence chief.
Following the meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the Mecca Defense Alliance, we are traveling to Bishkek to accompany our esteemed President, who is attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, together with our Minister of National Defense. On this journey, my brother, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, is also with us. We are continuing our consultations, which began in Istanbul, on the way to Bishkek as well.
Translated from TurkishToday, at the meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee that we held in Istanbul together with our Pakistani and Saudi brothers, we officially adopted the first institutional decisions of the Mecca Defense Alliance. We thank all the officials who contributed. May it once again be auspicious for our region.
Translated from TurkishMay Victory Day on 30 August be blessed for our entire nation. On the 104th anniversary of this great victory, through which we declared our will for independence to the whole world, I commemorate, foremost, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms; I ask for mercy for all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland, and remember our veterans with gratitude.
Translated from TurkishAs part of the diplomatic contacts we are conducting regarding the latest developments in our region, we held phone calls today with my Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty and my Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. In our discussions, we assessed the difficulties that have emerged in implementing the Gaza peace plan and the steps we can take. Together with my valued colleagues, we also discussed the latest developments in Syria. We once again underscored our strong support for establishing peace and stability in Syria. In our discussions, we also assessed the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the latest point reached in the ongoing negotiations among the countries party to the dispute. As three brotherly countries that desire peace and prosperity in our region, we will continue to strengthen our cooperation and coordination in every field.
Translated from TurkishThe journey that began 25 years ago with the will of our nation has, under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, turned into a great success story in which Türkiye has become a strong, respected and decisive actor in its region and the world. The strong will expressed by our nation in every election and the support it has given paved the way for us to take long-term, strategic and courageous steps in foreign policy and to strengthen Türkiye’s capabilities and potential by correctly reading the conditions of a changing world. Today, Türkiye is a country that determines its own course in a geography surrounded by crises; assumes responsibility for peace, stability and cooperation; and puts forward a voice and a vision concerning the future of its region and the world. In this 25-year journey, there is a share, a mark and the sweat of every brow belonging to everyone from our organizations and our citizens who expressed their will at the ballot box to all those who have given their hearts and labor to the AK Party from its founding to today. Under the leadership of our President and with the support of our nation, we will resolutely continue this journey that makes Türkiye stronger and gives the world a voice for a fairer future. The 25 years we have gone through are a harbinger of the coming century. Happy 25th founding anniversary to our AK Party. #AKPARTİ25YAŞINDA
Translated from TurkishOur visit to Egypt constituted an extremely important opportunity to address our bilateral cooperation, which is progressing at an excellent level, and developments in our region. I thank all Egyptian officials, especially my esteemed counterpart and brother Badr Abdelatty, for their sincere hospitality. During the visit, together with my counterpart, we co-chaired the Second Meeting of the Türkiye–Egypt Joint Planning Group. We also met with Hasan Rashad, head of Egypt's General Intelligence Service, and Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the Arab League. We signed agreements that will increase our bilateral trade, diversify our economic relations, and strengthen connectivity between our countries. Türkiye and Egypt are two great states acting with awareness of the responsibility that history and geography have placed upon them. Strengthening cooperation between our countries serves not only the common interests of our peoples, but also the establishment of peace, stability, and prosperity in our region. In line with this understanding and the vision of our Presidents, we will continue working shoulder to shoulder and deepening our relations on the basis of mutual trust and common interests.
Translated from TurkishWe visited in Benghazi the mausoleum of Omar Mukhtar, the standard-bearer of Libya’s struggle for independence, who resisted colonialism with dignity and determination. We respectfully remember with mercy the blessed memory of our martyr, one of the shared heroes of the Islamic world, who spent his life on the front lines for his faith and ideals and inspired the generations that came after him.
