Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. I heard with deep sorrow the news that M. E. Co. Abdullah Shareef, who served for a long period in the President’s Office and held several senior positions, has passed away. Abdullah Shareef, who received the Award for Service to the Maldivian State in 2023, served the government for more than 41 years, including more than 34 years at the President’s Office. Abdullah Shareef was recognized as a person who served with great dedication, sincerity, and honesty, and maintained a strong work ethic. Mourning the passing of Abdullah Shareef, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family. May Almighty Allah envelop the deceased in His mercy and forgiveness and grant him the everlasting blessings of Paradise! Amen.
Translated from DivehiIndeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. The news of a young child who was injured in an accident on the road two days ago passing away, along with the news today of a small child dying after falling from a building, has left the entire nation shocked and saddened. I extend my condolences to the families of these two innocent children. I also pray that the two deceased are kept in the highest blessings and comfort of Paradise. Increasing public awareness about such sudden and dangerous accidents that occur on roads and in high-rise buildings is a national and humanitarian effort that the whole society must undertake together. In particular, it is important to ensure the safety of features such as small doors, balconies, and railings in high-rise buildings. When caring for people with mental or physical disabilities and small children, responsible measures must be taken jointly by the people caring for them and the families in the homes where such people and children live. I urge the government, companies, civil associations, and all individuals to work together, give this special priority, ensure the safety of roads and buildings, and carry out awareness programs in a very well-organized manner. May Almighty Allah grant safety and peace to Maldivian society and families. Amen.
Translated from DivehiIndeed, we belong to Allah and indeed to Him we return. Having served as the atoll chief of Felidhoo Atoll and held senior positions in that atoll, and having served the Maldivian state for more than 53 years, distinguished personality V. Keyodhoo, Alivaagey, Abdul Latheef Hassan has passed away. In sorrow at his passing, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the deceased's family and the people of Felidhoo Atoll. May Almighty Allah grant the deceased forgiveness and mercy and bless him with the eternal blessings of Paradise. Amen.
Translated from DivehiThe government has drafted a bill concerning assets acquired through crime and will send it to the People's Majlis today. The main purpose of submitting this bill is to introduce a legal framework for taking from persons who commit serious crimes the assets they unlawfully acquire and closing avenues for deriving further benefit from those assets. As a result, persons who commit serious crimes will be prevented from obtaining financial benefit from assets acquired through such crimes. In addition, this bill will provide a solution to the legal issue currently faced in taking into state ownership government property acquired through serious crimes by various parties.
Translated from DivehiOn #WorldHumanitarianDay, we stand in solidarity with humanitarian personnel around the world who risk their lives in the service of humanity. At a time of growing humanitarian need, nowhere is the failure to protect civilians and aid workers more evident than in Gaza. The Maldives condemns the obstruction of humanitarian aid and violence against relief personnel and reiterates its call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire. We honour those who serve as humanitarians, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that others may live. Their courage demands our collective commitment to uphold international humanitarian law and ensure the protection of all humanitarian personnel. #ActForHumanity
