High Court Sets Nine-Justice Hearing on Draft-Arrest Freeze Law

Israel's High Court scheduled July 28 for a hearing before an expanded nine-justice panel on petitions challenging the law that freezes arrests of Haredi yeshiva students accused of draft evasion. Justice Noam Sohlberg will preside over the panel, according to the court scheduling reported Thursday. The hearing follows the interim order that suspended the law after the Knesset passed it and placed the petitions on an expedited track. Until the court issues a further decision, the arrest-freeze amendment remains suspended.
