CENTCOM Says Iran Blockade Has Redirected 30 Commercial Ships

U.S. Central Command says its forces have redirected 30 commercial vessels under the renewed maritime blockade of Iranian ports. CENTCOM said two additional ships were disabled and two were boarded to enforce compliance. Its July 31 update showed an MH-60R Sea Hawk being prepared aboard USS Michael Murphy as the destroyer supported blockade operations in regional waters near the Strait of Hormuz. The count is up from 17 redirected vessels in CENTCOM’s July 27 update, marking a further expansion of enforcement during the continuing U.S.-Iran confrontation.
