Israel and U.S. Weigh Land Blockade to Increase Pressure on Iran

The United States and Israel are considering a land blockade on Iran as one of several ways to intensify economic pressure on Tehran, according to reports published Friday. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed kinetic and non-kinetic pressure during their White House meeting Tuesday. The proposal would seek cooperation from Iran's neighbors and regional partners to tighten or close border crossings, restricting imports and exports. An unnamed senior Israeli official described a complete closure of Iran's land borders, while a retired U.S. general said Iran's many borders, including with Iraq and Pakistan, would make full enforcement extremely difficult.
