Haredi MKs Disclose Relatives Could Benefit From Draft-Arrest Freeze

Lawmakers from Shas and United Torah Judaism submitted conflict-of-interest disclosures during the Knesset debate on a bill to freeze arrests and legal proceedings against eligible yeshiva students who had not reported for service. Deputy Speaker Limor Son Har-Melech read the statements, which said members have children and grandchildren over age 18 who could be affected by the legislation. Knesset legal adviser Sagit Afik had required disclosure from any MK whose relative already faced an arrest warrant, arrest, enforcement action or unfinished legal proceeding. Afik said disclosure did not itself prevent the lawmakers from participating in the vote.
