Salam Says Hezbollah and IRGC Must Stop Fighting
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam used an LBCI interview to place responsibility for continued fire on Hezbollah and Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, saying they must stop fighting, not the Lebanese state. Lebanese, Israeli and Hebrew reports say Salam also rejected Hezbollah pressure and threats of civil war, insisted the government will not retreat from placing weapons under state authority, and said the U.S.-Iran memorandum does not guarantee an Israeli withdrawal within 60 days. He framed the Lebanon-Israel track as a negotiation framework aimed at eventual Israeli withdrawal and Lebanese Army deployment. For Israel, the statement is useful only if Beirut turns words into verified Hezbollah disarmament and security for northern communities.
