Arkia Resumes Direct Israel-Morocco Flights After Three-Year Halt
Israeli carrier Arkia announced Wednesday it will resume direct flights between Ben Gurion Airport and Marrakech's Menara Airport on August 24, ending a roughly three-year halt that began after the October 7, 2023 Hamas invasion and the multi-front war that followed. The route will run twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays with an Airbus A320, with one-way fares starting at $329. Arkia said the resumption followed a prolonged period of coordination with aviation and security authorities. Israeli passport holders are advised to obtain a Moroccan visa before travel. Marrakech was one of the top Israeli tourist destinations before the war, drawing roughly 200,000 Israeli visitors in 2022 under Israel-Morocco normalization achieved through the 2020 Abraham Accords, and industry executives called the return of the route strong evidence that outbound Israeli travel is normalizing.
